You will be reading posts, like the futuristic development of an area with antigravity, that will be so good you won’t be able to put it down. On a serious note, we want to come together and provide our fellow science scholars and peers with an opportunity to be informed through engaging analyzed articles. The purpose is to embolden the reader to think outside the box and form their own opinion based on facts and details that we provide. America prospered because as a country we took diversity and transformed it into innovation for the future. So, as a community, we want to portray the same perspective.
During our blog postings you can expect to see: an analysis of, and counter arguments to, a scientific argument; a podcast about the groups we individually identify with; a presentation on an artist's attempt to make a statement; and the results of our analysis of the differences in how different fields view/approach a topic.
As Honest Abe Lincoln once said, “You can’t believe everything you see online”. After reading some of our articles, we hope you will learn to question the legitimacy of anything you see on the internet and do your own research, but our goal will be to seek out the most reliable sources possible to give a fair, unbiased, and current take on a story.
Matt Vallillo
My name is Matt Vallillo, and I am not a writer. All through high school, I was never really good at it. I struggled with every assignment that I had that involved putting words on paper. Essays, lab reports, research papers, you name it. The paper in front of me was always as blank as my mind. My class strengths involved math and science. Math and science are logical and if there is one thing that I am, its logical. Sometimes. In my free time, when I’m not procrastinating my work, I like to play hockey. I’m on the NC State hockey team. I also like to play guitar and enjoy music, some popular, some not. I’m a pretty avid concert-goer, and l don’t have a ton of money because of this. I spend a good amount of time on the internet, so I tend to know what I’m talking about. Anyway, I applied to NC State as an engineer and much to my surprise, I actually got in. The first semester was great, and I’m looking forward to another good one (even though I’m in an English class).
Brandon Karimian
My name is Brandon Karimian and I am a freshmen at North Carolina State University. I was born in Columbus, Ohio into a quite diverse family. My father, being an Armenian-American, worked as a “Quant” for Golden Capital Management. My mother at the time, a native Buckeye, studied to be a nurse at Owens College. I spent most of my early childhood with my grandparents, both natively speaking Farsi. During my early childhood, I was taught that medicine was the future, along with many other middle-eastern ideology. These beliefs took a large toll as to now my career plans are to graduate with a Genetics intended major and hope to attend medical school at University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. My route to get their is yet uncertain as to I have a large interest in the mechanics of stocks and mathematics. Personally I am a technology enthusiast that loves to read Science Daily and PopSci in my spare time, but I believe my interests are not limited to just this. Each day I play soccer, follow the stock market, attend HealthPAC and Premed meetings, while also keeping up with the everyday life of a college kid. Nathan Faulkner
I’m a First Year Sophomore Computer Science Intended NCSU Student. I’m honestly unsure of how I managed to get through high school English classes with my poor writing. I’m also unsure as to what my teacher is wanting me to put in this “about me” section, but I figure since it’s about me I can just put this random stuff in here. I’m uncomfortable discussing myself and I’m uncomfortable giving personal information to the open internet, so there isn’t really going to be much here. Here I’m also apparently supposed to forge my credibility, but I’m just going to be honest and say that most of my information’s going to be from quick google searches, wikipedia, and potentially outdated books; but hey, at least that’s better and more varied than what the media uses. But, I’ve been supposed to be talking about me; but you’re not going to get those simple almost useless labels that are all I could really use to talk about myself; normally I’d tell you that if you read my stuff you’d probably get a sense of who I am, but with what I imagine an English class to require you’ll probably come out with little to no information about me and will instead have some weird amalgamation of information that doesn’t quite reach the length the teacher desires of me. Anyway, if I’m ever to post personal non-class related writing perhaps you’ll see the weird and sometimes morbid and disturbing stuff I seem to write.Bryce Wham
